Our Story
We met in high school, when Charlie (they/them) was 13, and I (she/her) was 14. We became instant friends.
Charlie went to art school and eventually became an early childhood educator in the Bay Area, while I went to music school and eventually became a trauma-informed life coach living in LA.
We've both experienced our fair share of trauma and have both spent years in therapy, and we both dedicated our lives creating safe spaces for others, so when the idea for this deck came to me in the middle of a sleepless, postpartum night, there was only one person I wanted to collaborate on it with: Charlie.
Their art speaks to the depth inside each of our emotions, and I know that when you experience The Way Back, you'll feel the exact same way I did when I first saw the deck art: truly seen.
Our Vision for The Way Back
The Way Back was born from a deep desire to provide immediate and gentle guidance to those experiencing emotional dysregulation.
We understand the challenge of accessing the tools we've learned in therapy in overwhelming moments, so we designed a deck that acts like a deep breath wrapped in a warm hug, offering clarity and calm without asking for too much from you too fast.
Our mission is to empower you to reconnect with yourself and maintain your mental wellness through compassion and simplicity.
Healing might feel hard sometimes, but it doesn't have to be complicated.
